A used proof sounds counter-intuitive but it would appear that a small number of plate proofs were co-opted for postal use; no imperforate stamps are known. Four margins with black rhombus quarter-strike to lower right. The reverse is equally interesting, showing offset in blue of the shield design. One of the scarcest items of the second issue of Ecuador with only one other known.
